STIJN KLAREN
My name is Stijn and I'm the face behind Roots Grow North. I live with my family on the edge of the Glaskogen nature reserve in Sweden. I'm a Wim Hof instructor, a certified Swedish hunter, and a huge outdoor enthusiast. Whenever possible, I go canoeing to discover the reserve's most beautiful spots. With just a sleeping bag and backpack, I enjoy the beauty of the countless lakes and forests here. Imagine sleeping under a pitch-black sky full of stars? After a few days in nature, you feel incredibly clear, free, and full of renewed energy.
With Roots Grow North I want to share this feeling with others during adventurous canoe trips.

WHAT TO EXPECT?
Do you ever feel like the days are too short, that there just aren’t enough hours, and your mind is already full before the day even begins?
During this journey, we go back to the basics. A week in the wilderness, where reconnecting with nature comes naturally. A reset of your daily patterns.
You’ll start seeing instead of just looking and return home with a few simple yet powerful tools that seamlessly fit into your routine. Tools that help you feel less stress and more in control in everyday life.

LOCATION
Glaskogen Nature Reserve is the setting for our trek. A vast wilderness spanning 28,000 hectares, home to over 80 lakes and endless forests. The landscape is rugged and untouched, teeming with wildlife, including beavers, countless bird species and, of course, the king of the forest: the moose.
I know this area well. It’s practically my backyard. With my expedition experience and work in the reserve, I’ll take you to the most beautiful spots.
PRACTICAL
For this trip, we will meet at the information center of the Glaskogen Nature Reserve. If you're coming from the Netherlands, driving is a good option, especially for bringing gear. We can connect participants with each other to facilitate carpooling.
Flying to Oslo is also an option. From Oslo, it's a two-hour train ride to Arvika, where you will be picked up by a van that'll drive you to the nature reserve.

SEE YOU THERE
On the first day, we'll pick you up in Arvika and take you to the reserve for introductions and a briefing. A delicious meal will be waiting: a meal from the forest, prepared by us over an open fire.
We spend the first night camping in the nature reserve. The next morning, we make sure everyone has the right gear. Then the adventure begins: we set off by canoe for an unforgettable experience in the Swedish wilderness.
